Abbie Liel, PH.D., P.E.  

Abbie (she/her) is a Professor of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering at the University of Colorado, Boulder. She has an undergraduate degree from Princeton (in Civil Engineering and Public Policy) and graduate degrees from University College London (MS) and Stanford University (PhD).  Her scholarship and professional service focuses on disaster risk reduction, with recent focuses on multihazard risks to housing, functional recovery, and climate change impacts on the built environment. She recently received an Applied Technology Council Award for Excellence for Extraordinary Achievement in Development of Applications for Seismic Performance Evaluation. She is a licensed PE in the state of California and a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
